Mid-term Exam: Polaroid

Digital Polaroid 01

Digital Polaroid 01 & Magazine Layout
Preliminary Lighting Diagram

After doing the digital polaroid, we think that the perspective of the image could be nice in the way we previsualized it, because it allows us to show some nice elements from the place atmosphere, such as the pool table and lamp, and the ambient lighting on the walls, as well as the bright colours of this room. The product looks a little bit flat, so, the idea of increasing its height (with table props around or just replacing a little bit the pasta on the plate), could really improve the composition on the layout.

The accent lighting and the rose sauce on the product are the key elements to see this product really tasty and fresh.

  1. Michael,
I'm giving you the same comments I gave Lisa, although I feel you diagram is much more detailed and your crop in the layout is a bit better.
Finally I kind of like the bread sticks around the plate with the slight opening you guys gave it in your digi polaroid. When I see how you used the shot in the layout I find the product too small. You will want to go in tighter. There is no need to keep the whole plate if it works that some of it is cropped either on one side or both but you need to fill that cover with the star (ie:pasta). I said leave bleed but the way you have dropped it in the layout leaves too much negative space. May I also suggest you guys bring extra props like a choice of colored linen napkins and forks as this may be a way of filling the foreground.
A note on the light; I think you guys need to let the ambient light go a touch darker for mood.
